What do people say about DC Explorer?
We had an amazing experience with DC Explorer! Louis and his brother were fantastic guides and made the entire trip fun, safe, and memorable. They worked hard to make sure everyone on the boat had a great opportunity to swim with the whale sharks and never made us feel rushed. On the way back, they stopped near Isla Mujeres for another swim and even prepared fresh ceviche for everyone, which was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end the trip.If youโre looking for a whale shark tour, I highly recommend DC Explorer. Great crew, great experience, and memories weโll never forget!

We had a wonderful experience with D C Explorer Snorkelling. We are not strong swimmers, and had concerns before booking the experience, so I contacted Paola via WhatsApp and she answered every question with kindness and patience, recommending the private boat so that we could have the guides' full attention. She provided prescription goggles for one of us (requested in advance), which worked brilliantly. The guides were friendly and helpful, making us feel at ease, but putting no pressure on one of us, who was unable to snorkel on the day. The three sites were amazing, and we witnessed myriad examples of sea life in crystal clear waters as well as beautiful natural and man-made structures (make sure you don't touch the underwater caves - they can sting!). We were lucky enough to see a huge spotted eagle ray and a nurse shark, amongst other highlights. It felt like we had all the time in the world to enjoy the snorkelling, and every moment was blissful. Highly recommended. Muchas gracias, Paola, Julio, y Pablo - ยกfue fantร stico!

I booked with DC Explorer for a whale shark swimming experience and it was quite memorable. The boat captain Ramon and the guide Luis ensured we engaged ethically. We looked for the whale sharks all over and got to see multiple of them. I did get sick from the boat movement, so I recommend to take preventative pills in advance. Luis encouraged for me to continue with the activity and Iโm so glad I did. Everyone was kind, the service was professional, and the experience was great regardless of the nausea. If youโre thinking about it just go for it.

This was such an incredible experience!! Our guide (Luis) and Captain (Ramone) were amazing! We felt safe the entire time, they gave clear instructions and were very helpful! They positioned the boat and timed the jump for each pair just right so that you had the perfect opportunity to see and swim alongside a whale shark. We were incredibly lucky to have so many sharks to see during our swim. And Luis was awesome and just kept pointing us in the right direction so that we could keep seeing more as they swam around. They offered each pair the chance to swim twice. And the guide will take some GoPro pics/videos during the swim. So you can just focus on the experience and you donโt have to stress about capturing it. And then we had a great time at playa Norte after and got to swim around there while they prepared fresh ceviche and guac. They had lots of cold drinks on board as well. Just a note: if you are at all prone to sea sickness/car sickness plan ahead and take some anti nausea meds or something. The boat ride was pretty intense, a handful of us got sick. Luis was really nice about it, offered us some tips to try to help with the sickness. Totally worth it though!! Would absolutely recommend doing this excursion and 10/10 for this company!

Had a great time. It took about 50 minutes to get to the whale sharks but when we got there their were tons swimming around. On our return they took us to the beach to swim in shallow water and gave us snacks. Just bring something for sea sickness to help yourself out.

Our expedition with Luis and Ramone was the highlight of our vacation! We went with our 14, 12, and 8 year old children. I felt very safe with them diving with Luis and he explained everything very clearly. Even with the sea sickness (only mom, lucky me!) I would do it 100 times over again.

Overall the experience was good, not great. Glad we did it. Had a few swim sessions and saw whale sharks in clear water.Four stars because there wasnโt a lot of instruction beforehand. No mention of what to do if youโre struggling in the water (we are fine swimmers). The sandwiches offered after the swim were declined by everyone but me. But it was warm so I didnโt eat it. Crew was polite, but not overly engaging. Felt safe the whole time.

The tour to see the whale sharks was absolutely amazing! Our guide Luis was very professional, informative, and fun. Not only did we get to swim with whale sharks, but also manta rays-! There were about a dozen of us on the boat in total, everyone seemed to have a great trip. I would highly recommend this company.

We absolutely loved our whale shark tours with DC Explorer. The entire process was very smooth and easy. We loved how they keep the group size small and we ended up becoming friends with everyone on the boat. Our captain was extremely nice and helpful, he put us into the perfect position before each jump to get in with the whale sharks. Our guide Juan was amazing. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure everyone had a great time in the water. He worked so hard getting us all I to position to intercept the whale sharks and Manta Rays as they seam by. He also took some amazing gopro footage of everyone that we will always treasure. I could not recommend this company for your whale shark tours. I have been on one before with a different company and that was not nearly as good of an experience as with DC explorers.

My husband and I have been planning to swim with whale sharks since we visited Mexico on our honeymoon 18 years ago. This company was communicative and got us rescheduled when a wind storm closed down the marina for three days. But what a day! There were 20-30 whale sharks feeding, they were everywhere!! Our guide Juan and our captain Gabriel made sure every pair had a good amount of time in the water, and Juan took amazing videos, as part of the tour package. Juan took special care to help my youngest daughter navigate the ocean, and we spotted a giant manta ray. We also stopped and swam in the shallows and ate delicious ceviche. Thank you for the priceless memories!

Incredible day! Capitan Ramon and Luis teamed up with Marco of Explora Mexicano and Iโm certain you will not find a better team to not just show you the whale sharks but also to put you in just the right spot for a safe, respectful, and mind blowing whale shark encounter. They were kind and patient with our group and made some scrumptious cerviche for us. I donโt have enough stars to say how awesome they are!

We just took a private tour to swim with the whale sharks. We saw so many and they swam all around us! Marco is an excellent guide. He's very experienced, knowledgeable, made us all feel safe and he's also very funny! Super easy to be around, you'll feel like you've known him your whole life. He really cared that we were all having the best time. Luis, our other guide, is just as great! He made sure he gave us the very best experience. His grandfather started the business and he grew up doing this. Marco is the Captain. He is so talented and patient, repositioning the boat so we could have the best possible dive each time. We were feet from the sharks and saw so many! You're in excellent hands if you take this tour. I cant recommend them enough!! ๐

Time well spent!! We highly recommend DC Explorer, you won't regret choosing a private tour!! The Captin and Nano were both very attentive to providing us with an absolutely AMAZING experience!! On the boat ride out the Captain would slow down to piont out sea turtles and flying fish. When we reached the Whale Shark area, we saw 7 different Whale Shark and 3 manta ray's. While in the water Nano helped us capture a lifetime of memories that will forever be ingrained in us! At one point one of our family member was having a hard time keeping up with the Whale Shark. Nano came over helped put her in the perfect position to see and swim along side the Whale Shark. We each had the opportunity to jump 3 times and had plenty of time in the water. We didn't feel rushed the slightest bit!! They prepared us well so we didn't waste time switching family members in and out of the water. The transition was very smooth as two of us climbed back in the boat, the Captain had two more of us ready to jump. We will definitely be using DC Explorer on of next trip to Isla Murjeres!

Spectacular tour with DC Explorer. Exceeded my wildest expectations. Our boat captain Gabrielle directed us perfectly to dozens of Whale Sharks and our guide Luis led us underwater to swim alongside numerous of these graceful, peaceful creatures. Both Luis and Gabrielle were experienced, knowledgeable and safety conscious. The video Luis took of each guest with the whale sharks was spectacular. We each had two long swims!! If youโre looking for an otherworldly spiritual experience, this is not to be missed and DC are the pre eminent tour group on Isla since 2003.

Amazing experience from start to finish. The team was extremely professional and made every effort to find the best possible location for us to observe and swim with whale sharks. What impressed me the most was their strong commitment to environmental protection. Before entering the water, they clearly explained the rules designed to protect the animals and their habitat, and throughout the activity they remained attentive to ensure everyone respected the whale sharks and interacted responsibly in their natural environment. They also captured beautiful photos and videos of the experience, all with outstanding quality. You definitely want to go with this tour. They took you and brought you back safely. We went last week during our vacation. It was magical. Unfortunately we did get sea sickness, so I recommend to take some non-drowsy medicine before going on this trip. That is my BIGGEST RECOMMENDATION! Take that medicine if you are not used to being out in the deep sea ocean, or if b you get car sickness at all. I wish I had that advice before I went. It would have made our experience more enjoyable. Nothing on part of their services. Thry were awesome and had delicious ceviche afterwards.

We had an amazing experience with DC Explore Snorkeling in Isla Mujeres! Our captain, Julio, and our in-water guide, Pablo, were both fantastic. We loved the personal attention and smaller, more private feel of the tour. They even let us play our own music on the boat which made it even more fun and relaxing.Julio and Pablo pointed out so many incredible things for us to see โ sting rays, barracuda, and so much marine life โ but the absolute highlight was the sea turtles! We were lucky enough to see several huge turtles, and it was one of the coolest snorkeling experiences weโve ever had.The whole trip felt safe, personal, and unforgettable. Highly recommend DC Explore if you want a more customized and memorable snorkeling adventure!

The snorkelling tour was good, but we were never told that the tour would stop so some people would get food (?) and the rest would have to wait by the beach for an hour.

Amazing ability to thread the needle and get you in the water when conditions are challenging. These are dive boats, so they know where to position themselves for clean extraction after a snorkelling drift in big swells!

We recently spent a week on Isla Mujeres and used DC Explorers to rent a golf cart for 4 days. We arranged the rental in advance and their communication was great. We were staying at a VRBO and supposed to pick up the cart in the morning, but then ended up delivering to us for no extra charge (as well as picking up). Great customer service. Everything worked great.

Our family of four booked a snorkeling trip with DC Explorer over the Christmas holiday. We found them online and it looked like a great plan for 3 site visits, including all equipment. Our group was 10 people - 2 families and 2 solo travelers. We checked in at the office just a block from the boat and we're given water bottles for the trip. Our group set out with two friendly and helpful team members, that spoke English. They split up responsibilities - one drove the boat and the other swam with us and ensured we were safe. The three sites were perfect for our first family snorkeling adventure. I highly suggest this for anyone with a free afternoon in Isla Mujeres.

This was such a fun experience! Our group had the boat to ourselves and they took us to several places around Isla Mujeres to snorkel. Our guide Emiliano snorkeled with us and pointed out fish and points of interest and kept us all together. Then we went to a beach area where captain Solomon cooked us lunch, which was the best grilled fish! A fantastic time!

This was THE BEST experience. We had a whole boat (10 people) 5 of which were kids (ages 4,4,4,7,7). The guides were great with the kids in the water and were just awesome in general. I loved it so much. The whale sharks were so friendly and it was amazing. I would do it again for sure and would highly recommend it to everyone. They also took some pictures and videos which they gave us for free. Definitely use this company!!!

Sadly my family visited outside of whale shark season (next time!) but luckily for us DC Explorer runs snorkeling trips the rest of the year. My family and I booked the night before and when we showed up we discovered we'd be getting a private snorkel tour. This was by far the best day of snorkeling I've had in years. The guide went out of his way to make sure we saw everything possible. This tour included multiple stops. The first was in very shallow water and was a great way for my son to get comfortable swimming in the open ocean. We saw so much wildlife and it was like we had entered a different world. My kiddo's top goal was to see a wild sea turtle and we found one almost immediately. The second stop was a 2 for 1! We started off exploring a reef in deeper waters followed by a trip to the underwater museum. By the time we returned to the boat I think all three of us needed a nap! This was an absolutely fantastic outing. All of us learned so much and saw such beautiful things. The employees were all extremely kind and patient with my 9 year old son who asked a million questions about the things we saw. It was an absolutely magical day and I can't wait to return during whale shark season.

The crew was fantastic, and our guide was so kind and attentive, making the whole day truly special. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I also compared prices with several companies, and DC Explorer not only offered the best rates but also had the best communication throughout the booking process. Our captain was Soloman and first mate Nano on our whale shark excursion. Pickup was easy and transport to the dock as expected. We were met with a bag of breakfast items while we waited our turn to pay. Instructions were very clear on where to go. The trip to where the whale sharks were was about a hour ride on the boat which was fast and bumpy. Finally making it to our destination, we were not disappointed! Two people went in at a time with Nano who videoed and took some pictures. There were other boats out there but with only two people per boat plus guide it didn't feel chaotic or cramped. We were blessed with being able to observe and swim with the whale sharks as they fed. Didn't know this was on my bucket list, but I can truly say this was one of the most amazing snorkel trips I have ever been a part of. Nano and Soloman did a wonderful job and you won't be disappointed. This is a family run business and so happy we found them! Thanks for great memories and a trip of a lifetime!

I have always been a world traveler since being a teenager. Almost all the items on my bucket list are to do with travel but one I recently crossed off in Cancun, Mexico. I've always wanted to swim with Whale Sharks & thanks to the team @ DC Explorer I had a grest experience. Lois was an expert guide both in & out of the water & got grest underwater footage for everyone on the trip. Ramon, our Captain was amazing in getting us into the right spot for a close look at these biggest fish in the oceans, not too close as to hurt them & navigated so we could be picked up too. We all got 2 short dives but made the most of every second. I'll treasure the photos & videos forever โ๏ธ

This was an amazing experience even though I had to go alone leaving my husband and son at our resort. We travelled around 14 miles into the ocean and I was worried we may not get to see any whale sharks but I shouldn't have been. Once we found a group of them, the captain of the boat knew exactly where to go and when to stop to tell us to get in. Luis was such a great guide, he was friendly, knowledgeable and really helped us to see as much of the whale sharks as possible. I was in a really nice group of people so it didn't matter that I didn't know anyone. The whale sharks were so gentle and peaceful but I had to swim fast to keep up when they decided to swim off. Such beautiful creatures. Isla Mujeres was very pretty and surrounded by gorgeous clear blue sea. I'm very glad I went on this trip, thank you ๐

My whale shark experience was amazing. Ricky was a great tour guide, he recognized I wasnโt a good swimmer and held my hand. We had the option of swimming with a life vest or swimming with a wetsuit, he also recorded and took photos the entire time. We got to do 2 jumps with the whale sharks. I thought we would be fighting for time with them with the other boats but there was so many that it was just me, my boyfriend and Ricky swimming with the Shark, It was a great time. We ended the day swimming at isla mujeres and the crew made us amazing ceviche and guacamole. Transportation to and from the resort was included in the package as well.

ยกUna experiencia increรญble e inolvidable! We went on a private whale shark tour with DC Explorer 2 days ago and had the most amazing experience! We had Nano and Chalo as our guide and captain and they were so friendly and enthusiastic and great to be around. It was 2 days after a full moon so Nano explained there was a good chance there would be whale sharks feeding near the surface! Sure enough, after about a 45-60 min boat ride from Cancun, they spotted them! There were so many whale sharks they were everywhere you looked, we couldnโt believe it! As it was a private tour, we got to spend as long in the water as we could swimming alongside at least 4-5 different whale sharks. Every time you couldnโt swim fast enough to keep up with one another appeared! After 30 mins swimming in the water with Nano with him making sure didnโt miss anything and taking pictures and videos, our captain said heโd heard there was a manta ray with another group. He was very skilled and drove us over to where it was sighted and we jumped in again and got to see the most incredible sight of my life- a manta ray swimming alongside a whale shark ๐ฅน๐ฅน it was truly magical! Weโve never been on a private tour before and it is expensive, but having this much time and the opportunity to swim with a manta ray as well was so so worth it! After this we had some sandwiches on the boat and then moored near Isla Mujeres and Chalo made us delicious guacamole and ceviche! We had asked DC Explorer if we could be dropped off in Isla Mujeres from Cancun as we were staying there a few days and they dropped us off with our suitcases near our hostel. Honestly couldnโt have had a better experience, and we will remember this always!! Thank you so much!

Ricky and Gabriel (captain) were great tour guides, the best we had so far as they were honest and hospitable. They made sure everyone had a good time and were not in it to just make an extra buck. Knowledgeable as they were, they respected the animals and made sure we didnโt swim with an entire group from other boats to current the animals. They took their time, found the right opportunity for everyone to have a great experience without disturbing the animal, that felt wonderful for such a bucket list experience. And the pictures/ videos were awesome :)

Had an amazing time with Marco, Luis and the DC Explorer team. There are many options when booking a whale shake adventure, but none better than with this crew. Not only will they put you in the very best possible scenario to swim with sharks, but they will do so while always ensuring youโre are having a good time and in a safe environment. Great communication with the staff regarding our booking. From start to end it was a great day. A taxi to pick us up, Coffee and fruit in the morning, a guide (Luis) who respected the animals, a captain who was able to take us away from the other boats and then serve ceviche and guacamole on the way back!! An unforgettable experience and an absolute highlight of our trip to Mexico! We were lucky enough to see over 50 whale sharks โ a breathtaking sight weโll never forget. Of course, encounters like this depend on many natural factors and canโt be guaranteed, which made it feel all the more special. We also saw dolphins and flying fish, adding even more magic to the day. A huge thank you to our amazing guide Luis, who was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and kind throughout the entire tour. We were fortunate to be on a particularly comfortable boat, which made the whole journey even more enjoyable. The food on board was thoughtful and delicious, especially the freshly made guacamole and ceviche โ a real treat after the dives. The stop at Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres was the perfect finale: soft white sand, turquoise waters, and a peaceful, joyful vibe. Everything was exactly as described โ and even better than we hoped. Absolutely worth every cent!

I went on a whale shark tour with DC Explorer on July 14, and it exceeded expectations. We had an amazing time. We were picked up from our hotel in Cancun shortly after 7:15 am and returned around 2 pm. The weather was calm that day, the boat ride wasnโt too rough, and it didnโt take as long as I expected to find the whale sharks. Everything was exactly as advertised. When you book with DC Explorer, youโre actually going out with their team and not being passed off to a random operator like some other companies do. I had read great reviews about guide Ricky and captain Gabriel, so I was thrilled when they introduced themselves at the dock. A couple of unexpected highlights: you can rent a wetsuit and wear it instead of a life jacket while swimming, which made the experience even better. Ricky also took some great videos, which he airdropped right on the boat. I saw complaints about other tours never sending media, so this was a big plus. As others have said, the ceviche was delicious, and there were plenty of cold drinks on board. Recommendations: Wear a hat and UPF shirt. We saw a huge number of whale sharks. Not sure if every group hears this, but we were told it was one of the best days of the season. Everyone got to swim twice, and although we could see lots of other boats nearby, our group was set apart with its own cluster of sharks, away from the chaos. I felt safe the entire time and would absolutely recommend this tour. We also had a great group. I dropped my camera at North Beach, and everyone helped me find it on the bottom. Huge thanks to the couple from the Netherlands that spotted it!

Despite being the first pick up and last drop off - which made for a long day, this tour was worth every penny. Definitely a bucket list experience and some amazing memories! Captain Solomon was friendly and managed to communicate even though he speaks little English, ( more than my Spanish!) he kept us safe and helped turn the whale shark our way. Nano was an awesome fun, energetic guide who did his absolute best to make sure everyone had fun and the best experience ever. We lucked out with the rest of our tour group too and made new friends. Highly recommend!!! No sunscreen so where a t-shirt, swim shirt or hire a wetsuit. Snacks, drinks and lunch were great.

Had the amazing opportunity to go out and swim with whale sharks. I got to swim with four different sharks! There were many more there also. These are gentle giants, who could care less about humans. In fact, I never felt more invisible in my life lol. Emiliano and his captain were phenomenal. Everything was easy and fear free. Things were explained in Spanish and English. The guacamole was so delicious and I was told the ceviche was also good! The photos and videos captured every memorable moment so it confirmed leaving my phone put away was the right move. No regrets. Donโt chose any other option!

My husband and I were down in Cancun during a full moon so we had to take advantage! They arenโt exaggerating when they say itโs the perfect time. At one point, from the boat we could see easily 15 whale sharks. Iโm sure there were soo many more we couldnโt see. They were all over! Our guide and captain were both very knowledgeable, friendly and made sure to get us RIGHT in the middle of the action. Each group of two got two jumps in the water and each group jumped in right in front of a shark (or several). After about an hour we headed back to Isla Mujeres where we got to swim for about an hour at Playa Norte and the captain and guide prepared ceviche and the most amazing guacamole (seriously probably the best guac Iโve ever had). A note - IF you are staying in Cancun and getting picked up by them, this is an ALL day excursion because of transportation.. my husband and I were picked up at 5:20am from our resort and got dropped off about 5:00pm. We had about 4 or 5 stops along the way and back - with us being the first pickup and last drop off (we stayed at Xcaret for reference). So please keep this in mind if you have reservations. Also, bring Dramamine just in case you get motion sickness. We plan on hopefully doing this again one day but will make sure to do it directly from Isla Mujeres to avoid all the driving. Iโd highly recommend! It was a once in a lifetime experience.
